Story Telling Is My Passion...
There are countless ways to tell a good story. Adding video and sound certainly tickles more senses than words on a page, but that doesn’t make the storytelling easier. These extra layers of context can elevate or confound a well intentioned narrative. So, attempting mastery of this medium is a never ending endeavor. Technology improves, attention spans wane, and story telling innovation constantly evolves. It’s this constant challenge that’s fueled my 25 year career in television.
My journey…
I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most talented men and women in the industry, traveling to more than 20 countries and nearly all fifty US states. Together, we’ve produced killer content for Travel Channel, HGTV, Food Network, Animal Planet, Discovery and more.
hang en cave, vietnam
We took two 20 year old street buskers from Cleveland on a life changing adventure to Vietnam, where we hiked to the third largest cave in the world.
weta digital, Wellington NZ
We found these two Lord of the Rings fans at Comic-Con and whisked them to an adventure filled trip to New Zealand, topped by a surprise visit with Director Peter Jackson at Weta Digital. That’s Bert Kreischer made up as Gandolf.
Chiang Mai, Thailand
We’re telling conservation stories too. This six day old elephant is part of the success story at the Elephant Sanctuary outside Chiang Mai, Thailand, where volunteers are working to rehabilitate, reproduce and reintroduce these amazing creatures back into their native habitat.
Post production
Of course storytelling isn’t just about gathering the goods in the field. You have to be able to put it all together. From my early news days working on old “tape to tape” edit machines, to learning the ins and outs of non-linear platforms like Avid and Premiere, half of my career has been in post-production. Whether it’s writing and editing a small project on my own, or managing a staff of producers, writers and editors for a prime time cable series. Post is where good stories can become great.
Advertising Integration
With more and more channels and platforms to choose from, monetizing stories is more challenging than ever. I’ve worked with partners like Subaru, Travelocity and Warner Brothers to seamlessly integrate their products into visual stories in fun and creative ways.
non-profits
And I’ve helped non-profits like The V Foundation for Cancer Research tell their success stories with the aim of raising more dollars to fight cancer.
What's next...
Through it all the creative process always keeps me challenged and engaged, finding new and unexpected ways to tell stories. It’s what I love. I’ve had the good fortune to work and learn from some of the best in the business, in the field, in the edit room and at networks. And I always look forward to the next story to tell.
